Brad Pitt to film in Falmouth
The Hollywood heartthrob will be filming scenes for World War Z between the 2nd and 14th August.
Based on a novel by Max Brooks and set in the future after a war against Zombies, hence the title; the film is set to be released next year.
Filming has already taken place in Malta. It's believed the Falmouth scenes will be onboard a ship.
Richard Gates, the town manager said: "This is a major coup for Falmouth and we're pulling out all the stops to prepare for the influx of crew and cast.
"With Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week taking place at the same time, there is going to be an almighty buzz."

Sir Geoff Hurst visits St Michael's
Football legend and World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst shared an evening of football anecdotes at St Michael’s Hotel and Spa on Saturday 19th February. More than 100 fans turned up to hear the former striker talk about England’s World Cup triumph in 1966 and tales of his successful football career at West Ham.
St Michael's VIP Reception
St Michael’s Hotel invited friends, guests and associates to a VIP Reception to help celebrate the recent hotel refurbishments and the launch of the new Corporate Brochure.
“It’s been a fantastic way to showcase the changes and developments at the hotel. The response from people who haven’t been in for a while is always ‘wow’! said Hotel Proprietor Nigel Carpenter. “We hope to have more nights inviting friends, suppliers, guests and local businesses to come and see for themselves what we’ve been doing over the past year!”
Gourmet Night with Valentine Warner
St Michael's Gourmet Night with special guest Valentine Warner was a fantastic night with over 70 diners enjoying Valentine's Japanese oysters, as well as Nick Hodges 7-course gourmet menu.
The night was such a success that new gourmet dates will be promoted soon!
AA 4 Star for St Michael's
St Michael’s Hotel & Spa has been recognised as one of the top hotels in the South West and awarded Four Stars by the AA Inspection team.
Malcolm Bell, Director of South West Tourism said: “This is excellent news and so well deserved. The team at St Michaels have dedicated themselves to providing a quality offering with first class service in a wonderful location - this is a four star accolade to a five star team."
St Michael's is the first hotel in Cornwall to achieve promotion to Four Stars this decade.
Harden's Guide
The Flying Fish restaurant has been selected to feature in the renowned Harden's UK Restaurants 2009 Guide.
These guides are based on what is now the largest annual survey of restaurant-goers in the UK.
The hotel is delighted with this recognition.
Supporting Dott Cornwall's 'New Work' Project
St Michael's have joined forces with Dott Cornwall to help raise the profile of the organisation’s New Work scheme.
New Work, which is managed by Dott Cornwall and sponsored by the Skills Funding Agency, aims to enhance the skills of people in Cornwall so they can achieve better paid jobs that are relevant to the county’s future economy.
Money Raised for ShelterBox
St Michael's Spa Open Evening helped raise £309.87 for ShelterBox. Spa guests enjoyed an evening of mince pies, mulled wine, prize draws and treatment demonstrations, all in aid of ShelterBox, based in Cornwall.
ShelterBox respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need.

Race for Life
The ladies at St Michael's gathered last Sunday to run in the Falmouth Cancer Research Race for Life.
More than 1,700 women ran in the 5km event which is hoping to raise over £90,000.

Cornwall Tourism Awards 2010
St Michael’s were winners again this year winning Hotel of the Year Bronze.
This follows on from last years triumph when the hotel won Gold Hotel of the Year, Gold Website of the Year and Winner of Winners.

Silver Award at South West Excellence Ceremony
St Michael’s Hotel & Spa has won Silver Hotel of the Year at the SW Tourism Excellence Awards 2009.
The South West Tourism Excellence Awards celebrate the ‘best in the South West' and aim to promote and reward the leading businesses and individuals in the tourism industry.
“To gain recognition on a regional level is not only good for the hotel but for Cornwall as a whole,” said hotel owner Nigel Carpenter. “We strive to be one of the best hotels in the South West and to win an award at the Excellence ceremony is a fantastic achievement for all the staff at the hotel.”
The South West Tourism Excellence Awards ceremony was on Monday 23rd November at the 4-star Saunton Sands Hotel in North Devon. Guest speaker and presenter at this year's event was Gill Williams, Travel Editor of the Sunday Mirror.
