Summer Tipple: The Kernow Sour

The weather’s getting hot and humid in Falmouth. And what better way to bask in the sunshine than with a cool cocktail in hand? Our bar team have just launched this new summer cocktail to share with you, so you can spend a sun-drenched afternoon quenching your thirst in our shore-side bar or at home…

Why the Kernow Sour is a winner

Josie, a member of our bar crew, said: “Bubbly and breezy with a slight dry tang, this is a lip-smackingly good combo of Cornish ingredients. Tarquin’s Gin is created in tiny batches and is Cornwall’s first gin for over a century. On its own it brings fragrances of violets and fresh orange zest, but when combined with the robustness and crispness of Knightor’s sparkling wine from the vineyards of the Roseland, it packs a gigantic punch.”

25ml Tarquin’s Gin
A hearty splash of Knightor sparkling wine
Juice of half a lime
Half a teaspoon of sugar (or a splash of sugar syrup if you have it)
Lime skins sliced into ribbons to garnish

The best thing about The Kernow Sour is that it can be made in moments. Check out our quick video on Instagram or follow these easy steps:

Pour in the gin, squeeze of lime juice and sugar into a cocktail maker
Add a small scoop of ice cubes
Shake until very cold
Pour into a big Martini glass then top with the sparkling wine
Add a garnish or two of your lime ribbons
Head out into the sunshine and enjoy

This featured cocktail is served all day every day in our bar, priced at £7.50.
