What’s On This Summer: Kids Edition!
We may be biased but we believe there is no better place to spend your summer holiday than the Cornish coast, with all the rock pooling, adventures and swimming what more could you need? Well, there’s a lot more going on in Cornwall this summer for you and your little ones. We’ve gathered together a few of our favourite child friendly activities and days out in Cornwall this summer.
TREBAH GARDENS AMPHITHEATRE, Mawnan Smith
Located a couple of minutes drive from the hotel Trebah is a tropical paradise of a garden on the Helford river. They have recently opened an amphitheatre in the grounds with shows throughout the summer. For kids we’re particularly excited about:
Wennie and Jago’s Giant Adventure by Little Trebiggan on Saturday 30th July at 13:00.
This is a free Introduction to the Arts event aimed at 5-11-year-olds
“The storms of 2014 have opened a Portal and the Giants have been released back into Cornwall. Two youngsters Wennie and Jago find an ancient map that contains clues about how to send the Giants back. With the help of some friendly giants and the audience can the youngsters unlock the Cornish codes and send these dastardly creatures back?”
Directed by Rosanna Elliott, this puppet show will delight audiences of all ages and give them an introduction to the beautiful Cornish Language, the performance is included in the cost of your entry ticket so make sure you make the most of it and explore the gardens throughout the day too!
Another show we’re excited about is Danny The Champion Of The World by Illyria on Friday 12th August 19:30, which would probably be suitable for older kids as well.
“One night, Danny awakes to find his father has not returned from a night of poaching. Fearing that his father may be in danger, Danny sets off to rescue him. Soon Danny finds himself masterminding the most incredible and exciting plot ever attempted against the evil local landowner Victor Hazell!
Now based permanently in Cornwall, and celebrating their 25th anniversary season, Illyria is one of the country’s foremost theatrical interpreters of Roald Dahl’s work. This time, they’re back with a funny and heartwarming story perfectly suited to the open-air.
And a lot of pheasants…”
This show is not included in the price of your ticket to Trebah so we would recommend booking in advance, you can do that here.
