6 Things To Do in Cornwall This Early Summer
Early Summer in Cornwall certainly has it’s charm. You can enjoy the weather and the beautiful sites (April showers bring may flowers right!), all without the Summer crowds. St Michaels is the perfect base from which to experience Falmouth events, but if you fancy exploring further afield and don’t mind a scenic drive, we’ve also included a few Cornish events that will allow you to get to know the South West that little bit better.
Tuesday 1st May 2018. May Day brings one of the biggest events of the year in the charming fishing village of Padstow. Streets are adorned with decoration, and come alive with dancing and singing, with thousands of people coming together to celebrate the day.
Tuesday 8th May 2018. A day of lively and colorful celebration. Dancing floods the streets from 7am until the evening in addition to the many stalls selling local Cornish crafts and food. If you’re coming with the kids there is plenty to entertain them with a fairground and carnival atmosphere.
Friday 25th May- 3rd June 2018. This amazing 10 day celebration includes over 150 events from music and drama to gig racing and swimming. With many diverse events happening there is something for everyone during this famous festival.
Friday 25th- Monday 28th May 2018 The Folk Festival is a friendly mix of folk concerts, workshops and themed events held annually on the late May Bank Holiday weekend. It features dance displays, music and song all based in and around the North Cornwall coastal town of Bude.
Thursday 7th- Sunday 9th June 2018. The county’s biggest annual event brings entertainment, shopping, one of the country’s best flower shows and much more.
Friday 22nd June- Sunday 24th June 2018. One of the largest nautical music and song festivals, Falmouth hosts the Sea Shanty Festival. 64 groups from all over the UK preform their take on sea songs and shanties in cosy pubs and main stages. With music, entertainment, food and drink this is an event not to be missed.
