BEACHES IN CORNWALL
This is an obvious one, dogs (and children!) love to stretch their legs on the large, sandy beaches we’re so lucky to have here in Cornwall. Unfortunately, most beaches are only open to dogs until Easter Sunday. However, there are a few gems still dog friendly all year round;
TRELISSIK, FEOCK CORNWALL
There’s plenty of room for your four-legged friend here; we suggest parking in the National Trust car park and walking around the outside of the Trelissik gardens down to the creeks and tributaries of the Helford, past the King Harry Ferry and ending at the Durgan beach. Find the route here.
A large, sandy beach, dog friendly year round – just be careful as there are areas that dogs need to be kept on leads. At low tide you can walk along the sand to the next bay (again, be careful of the tide times as you don’t want to get stuck!)
UPTON TOWANS BEACH, HAYLE
With miles of exciting sand dunes to explore and crystal clear water this beach is one of the best dog friendly beaches in Cornwall. With the UK’s reputation for changeable weather this is the perfect place to either wrap up warm and experience the elements or bring a picnic and bathers!
LOE BAR, HELSTON
With no car-park this is the perfect place for a relax part way through a walk. Park at the steps car park in Porthleven or Penrose house car park for a quick stroll to the beach. Or, if you fancy a longer walk, park in Helston or Degibna. Just be aware that the beach is not safe for swimming due to the tides (for all you brave souls who’d go for a dip in Easter).
We’d also recommend checking by-laws on different beaches; on some you can still walk your dog before 7am and after 9pm. We find this website particularly useful for all beach and dog related news.
Visit the most Southerly point in the UK and why not stop off for a cream tea in the hidden gem that is the Polpeor Café. Dog (and child!) friendly this café has the most stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean.
THE EDEN PROJECT, ST AUSTELL
A family friendly attraction year-round, there’s always a great Easter Extravaganza here. And what’s more? You can bring your dog to all the outdoor areas (though not, unfortunately, into the biomes).
PRINCESS PAVILION, FALMOUTH
Just a short stroll from the hotel are the Princess Pavilions; incorporating the multi award winning Gyllyngdune gardens, the garden room restaurant and bandstand. It’s the perfect place to spend a leisurely Easter holiday afternoon!
